Pre-Katrina Pictures, Courtesy of a Former Owner
Pre-Katrina Photos Courtesy of Ted WasmuthAll of the years we have been boating we have had the good fortune to meet many kind and generous kindred boating spirits that have been willing to share their time, their resources and their knowledge. We have sometimes been absolutely overwhelmed by the kindness we have experienced within the boating community. Cape Dory owners are certainly no exception.
We had some questions about our CD22 and were hoping we could get some help from one of the previous owners. The builders plate had Ted Wasmuth's name engraved on it. We googled him, found a phone number and called him up in Louisiana. He took a lot of time and answered all our questions. Then he asked us if we would like a picture of the boat as she looked before the storm. We, of course, said yes. A few days later a very large envelope arrived with 20 or so photos in it. Here are a few of them.
Thank you Mr. Wasmuth. As soon as she is complete, you will be recieving a packet of pictures as well.

The bowsprit in the photo above was installed by Mr. Wasmuth for use in flying the spinnaker and for his anchors. It was completely ripped off by Katrina and it holed the hull in the process. We are not much for spinnakers and the bronze anchor roller on the stemhead fitting is good enough for us so we will not be replacing it.
These pictures give us focus as we push through the 1001 projects it is taking to bring this boat back to its former beauty.
